Closure Information

After 17 Wonderful Years, Cocheco Academy of The Arts to Close.

Cocheco Academy of The Arts was founded with one purpose - to build a space for all students to grow, learn and create with each passing day. Through a unique teaching approach and a truly passionate staff, we helped  students  grow and develop academically and personally to the highest level.

Unfortunately, we've reached the end of our time here on the seacoast. Many issues have arisen since the beginning of the pandemic which makes it impossible for our school to continue to operate past June 2022.

Remote Learning made it difficult to attract new students. Our lack of permanent home and the restrictions on our current space also played a part in our decision. This decision is a hard one but one that we felt was the only way forward to ensure our beloved students can find a home elsewhere on the seacoast to complete their high school education.

Funding has always been an issue and with a smaller student body we are unable to continue to rent a space at current market rate that even with a smaller student body we've outgrown and we are unable to pay our staff a living wage. We feel a soft landing, by making the decision before it was made for us was the best thing for our community.

We will miss our community but we will remember our years together and smile. You can still reach us after June 16, 2022 by emailing info@cochecoarts.org, for general questions, bmccartney@cochecoarts.org for financial questions or kbaker@cochecoarts.org for student/alumni related questions.

Student files will be sent to their new schools by July 15, 2022. Alumni - we have digital copies of your transcripts and you can still request them through the form on this website.

We will update this message as needed.
